This past weekend was such an exciting one! I was able to visit my alma mater and take some graduation portraits for my very close friends, I attended the Styling with Dear Sweetheart Events Worskhop, and I met with the designer who will be designing my logo. Even though it was exhausting, it was a beautiful, satisfying, and creative weekend, and one that I definitely needed.
LQP Graduate Sessions
We were blessed this weekend that the weather was on our side during our sessions. It was just perfect! We got amazing golden light on Saturday afternoon, and despite the chilly breeze early Sunday morning, there was nice, soft sun peeking behind the clouds, which gave us some beautiful light.
Plus, having such gorgeous friends makes my job so easy! These three rocked it at their sessions, and I can't wait to share more of their images. I may share some more sneak peaks on my Instagram, so you can keep an eye out there for more pics!
I will be sharing more of their images sometime next week right here on the blog, so be sure to check back for those posts!
Styling with DSE
A while back I took the leap and decided to invest some of my hard earned money into attend the Styling with DSE workshop in Harrisonburg. It was a bit of an impulse decision, but I couldn't be more happy that I decided to attend.
Before I tell you about the workshop, let me just tell you that Kat Schmoyer is such a sweetheart! I am so glad she invited us to her home turf to teach us more about styling and how helpful it can be for our businesses. She is so generous in sharing her knowledge and expertise, and she is such a big proponent of #communityovercompetition. It's beautiful to see the love she has for what she does and her willingness to share it with others.
It was a great feeling being in a room surrounded by passionate and creative individuals. It was the perfect number of people, so we could all have equal opportunities in styling the tables and getting some hands on experience. We all worked really well together. Everything came out just so beautifully, and I am so glad I attended. I can't wait to start planning my very first styled shoot. ;)
Here's a list of all the vendors who participated in the styled shoots, including links to their Instagram accounts and blogs, where applicable. Show them some love and check out their work!
Initial Consultation with C Morales Design
So by this point in the weekend, I am completely exhausted. My shoulders hurt, my eyelids have trouble staying open, and I'm ready for sweatpants and some Netflix. But, with coffee in hand, I headed back to JMU's campus to meet with Chris to talk about my brand and my vision.
As we settle in, Chris grabs me a seat, pulls out a large poster board, and dumps a bunch of Sharpie's on the table. As we talk, he starts mapping out our ideas into a sort of flow chart, complete with doodles and color and all kind of notes. It was so cool to watch! It's exciting seeing your own ideas laid out in front of you and watching them take shape. I am so glad we were able to meet in person, because it was nice knowing I could reach down and doodle on that board if I needed to as I spoke.
I don't know if I can adequately explain how I felt after the meeting was over. Chris has such a wonderful creative mind and such a giving heart, and he made me feel so comfortable sharing my dreams. I am so fired up about working with him and seeing what he creates.
It was such a great weekend, and I am so inspired by everything that was learned and accomplished. I am really looking forward to my new brand and my new LQP Graduates.
I hope everyone enjoys the last few days of the week! Make them count!
