I kind of can't believe that it's already been a year since I graduated from college! It seems like such a short time ago that I was moving into my freshman dorm and getting ready for the crazy college adventure. Then, in what seemed like the blink of an eye, I was graduating. It's amazing how quickly time flies when you're having fun.
Now, I'm celebrating the graduations of some of my closest friends, and it makes my heart happy that they asked me to capture images of them on their campuses to remember such a big and important milestone in their lives. I'm honored to share some of my favorite images with you as we celebrate the accomplishments of these wonderful people.
Devan Sullivan - JMU
Devan is graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and Spanish, with two minors: business and legal Spanish. While at JMU, she was a part of the Office of International Programs and was an employee at the University Recreation Center. She has some amazing travel plans for after graduation, and will of course be going on a great many adventures in the future.
We had so much fun at Devan's session. We met nice and early in the morning since she had to run a 5k right after! We had some gorgeous light, and we didn't the morning chill and wind keep us from having a blast! And can we just look at those gorgeous blue eyes? They're just stunning!
Isabel Jimenez - JMU
Isabel Jimenez in graduating suma cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences and a minor in medical Spanish. While at JMU, she was a centennial scholar, a Dolley Award recipient, and a part of the honors program. She was an active member of REACH, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, and the president and founder of the JMU Chapter of SACNAS.
We had an absolutely gorgeous session together with some stunning golden hour light. We were joined by her family and her wonderful boyfriend. We even had some Omega Psi Phi brothers join us for a few pictures after they persistently encouraged her boyfriend to propose! It made for some great laughs. It was so hard to narrow down my favorite shots from this session because they all just came out so great!
Josie Mai - JMU
Josie is graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Inteligence Analysis with a concentration in competitive inteligence. She was captain of the Grupo Candela dance team, a member of the Latino Student Alliance, and Vice President of Women In Technology. She has an awesome job lined up after graduation, and will continue to run her personal training business.
We had a beautiful session together with some super soft light and gorgeous weather. Her boyfriend joined us and brought along his siblings, who played us some super fun music throughout the session, which made everything a whole lot more fun! Plus, they asked to get some shots dancing together, and that just made my heart smile! I wish all my seniors would dance for me.!
Eduardo Sevillano - ODU
Ed (my wonderful boyfriend) is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology with a minor in Management. While at ODU, he was an active member of the Latino Student Alliance, the Student Government Association, and Hispanos y Latinos Unidos. He received the Pathways Retention Bookstore Scholarship and worked at the Office of Equity and Diversity.
We had such a fun session at ODU together! My boyfriend is usually the one complaining about having his pictures taken, but he was such a good sport during our session. He smiled and posed and just rocked it. We had such a blast, and I'm so happy with how the shots all came out. Maybe I am biased, but he's by far the most handsome man my camera has ever seen!
To the Class of 2015...
Congratulations! You've accomplished something wonderful: you've earned an undergraduate degree, a feat of which you should be very proud. Go do great things with it! Do exactly what you've always hoped you could do, and don't let anyone tell you that you can't. They can tell you that your degree is just hard-earned money down the drain. They can tell you that it's just a fancy piece of paper. They can tell you that everyone has one and that yours isn't special.
But it takes a special kind of person to invest in their education, an intelligent person to pass college-level courses, and an exceptional person to graduate and start making waves.
Go be exceptional! You have my full, unwavering support.
Cheers to you, graduates!
Welcome to the blog!
I'm the curly-haired introvert behind the camera :)
