I love weddings. I really do! But I don't photograph them. It's not because I don't think I'm good enough, or that I don't have the right equipment for them. I just don't really have the stamina for them. I know that there are hundreds of photographers out there who would much rather photograph your wedding, and I think you should hire one of them.
However, when a close family friend of many years got engaged and asked me to photograph their wedding, I did consider it momentarily. But then I remembered why I am not a wedding photographer and why others are, and unfortunately had to say no.
That didn't stop me from doing what I do best: portraits!
I had the honor of capturing Kasey's Sweet 16 in May. Her party was full of fun, love, and a whole lot of dancing! Definitely my kind of party!
Sometimes you get an opportunity you can't say no to. Even if it doesn't fit your brand, and even if it doesn't pay. Sometimes, your coworker gets you a press pass to shoot a rock concert for Kesta Happening DC, for a band you've never heard of, for $0. And sometimes, you just have to say yes!
I just realized I never shared my goals for May. No really, I didn't even notice until right now! Oops...
But that's okay! Sometimes as a business owner you miss deadlines and completely forget about your blog. Maybe you completely forget to announce the winner to your giveaway from a few months ago (oops! more on that in a few) Now, that's definitely not a good thing, but it's also not good to punish yourself for your mishaps. So I'm choosing to show myself a little grace and work harder to do better in the future. I'm still pretty new at this, and I'm searching for growth, not perfection.
With this grace in mind, it's time to announce the winner of the website launch giveaway I held in February (that was forever ago, I know).
Drum roll, please...
Welcome to the blog!
